Professor Arguello honored with request to serve as an NSF Program Director.

Dr. José Argüello will join the National Science Foundation as Temporary Program Director starting July 2009.   The National Science Foundation (NSF) employs scientists, engineers, and educators on rotational assignment to further the agency's mission of supporting the entire spectrum of science and engineering research and education.   During this one-year assignment, Dr. Argüello will be part of the Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences (MCB) within the Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO).  The mission of BIO is to enable discoveries for understanding life.  BIO-supported research advances the frontiers of biological knowledge, increases our understanding of complex systems, and provides a theoretical basis for original research in many other scientific disciplines. In particular, MCB supports research and related activities that contribute to a fundamental understanding of living systems at the molecular, subcellular, and cellular levels.
