Research & Laboratories

Research conducted at the Center for Firesafety Studies has involved fire protection engineering students and faculty as well as those from other academic departments, including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science and management. Research thrusts have included firesafety evaluation methods for buildings, submarines and ocean going surface vessels; explosion phenomenon; modeling the fire performance of building structures; fire detection and suppression; and risk management techniques.

These and other research activities help WPI students and faculty remain on the cutting edge of fire technology.
