Registration

During 2010-2011, please note that registration for the Inquiry seminar or Practicum will not be done online:

HU3900 Inquiry Seminar in Humanities and Arts
HU3910 Humanities and Arts Practicum

Instead, you must contact directly the instructor of the Inquiry Seminar or Practicum. The instructor will file a form to register students for the seminar or practicum. There is a limit of 12 students in each seminar or practicum.

Students should check two locations to find out what seminars and practicums are offered, when each seminar/practicum is scheduled, and who is teaching the seminar or practicum.

What

Inquiry Seminars and Practicums for 2010-2011. Find several seminars or practicums that you might be interested in.  Be flexible and consider several different terms and different topics for the culminating inquiry seminar or practicum.  Seminars are offered at a specific time so schedule conflicts may arise.  It is helpful to consider multiple opportunities.

When

Registrar's Course Schedule.  Check each term under Humanities and Arts, then HU3900 and HU3910. Every seminar or practicum is offered at a specific two-hour time period. If you know you will have a course conflict during those two hours, you will not be able register for that seminar or practicum.

Who

The name of the instructor is listed on both sites above—the descriptions and the class schedule. If no instructor is listed, please contact the Humanities and Arts Department office (SL125) for more information.

Contact the instructor directly by email or in person to ask if you may register for the seminar/practicum. They may ask to meet with you or they may be able to process your registration by email.

When you contact the instructor, you should be able to give them the following information:

If you are a first-year student, a sophomore, or a transfer student enrolled in August 2007 or after, you should also note how you will fulfill the Depth and Breadth components of the Humanities and Arts Requirement with this seminar/practicum:

If space is available in a particular inquiry seminar or practicum, you will need to provide your student ID number to the instructor in order for them to complete the course form.

You may find it helpful to consult the Humanities and Arts Requirement Desktop Reference and complete the Requirement Worksheet before contacting the instructor. The department website also notes exceptions in the areas of foreign languages. The Desktop Reference, Worksheet, and other resources are available online.

If you have any questions about coordinating your academic schedule, please meet with your academic advisor.
