The Physics Department has research thrusts in Complex Fluids (polymer solutions, surfactants and colloids, light scattering, liquid crystals), Condensed Matter (wavefunction engineering of nanostructures, semiconductor heterostructure laser design and spintronics in diluted magnetic semiconductors, calorimetry, nanomechanics, wetting and Casimir forces), Optics (photonics, lasers, spectroscopy), Physics Education Research, and Quantum Physics (cold atoms and Bose-Einstein condensates, quantum information theory).
