The Graduate Student Professional Development Program

WPI is committed to providing our students with the best possible graduate education. We know that scientist, engineers, teachers and researchers face an increasingly competitive world and to best prepare our graduate students for their future careers, we offer the Graduate Student Professional Development Program (PDP). This program provides resources so that our graduates – masters and doctoral - are fully prepared and confident as they assume their chosen careers whether in academia, government, industry or non-governmental sectors.

Commitment to the success of our graduate students in demonstrated by the broad support of team members that work together to provide coordinated professional development training as part of the PDP program. This team includes WPI faculty, the Graduate School, the Morgan Teaching and Learning Center, the WPI Library and the Career Development Center.

A graduate student’s to do lists can be quite daunting – learning to teach, writing a grant, succeeding in lab, writing a thesis, finding a mentor. The program can help with each step along the way by providing resources both academic and nonacademic that will help chart the path through graduate school and beyond.

The free workshops in the PDP program are led by WPI faculty and administrators and are designed for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from all disciplines. We encourage you to take advantage of the resources that best support your needs and career goals.
