Sponsored Research Programs
BEI offers for-profit corporations the opportunity to partner with the institute’s experienced academic researchers to perform research and development at a fraction of the cost of in-house R&D.
For companies with new research initiatives they would like to get off the ground or those that have hit roadblocks in ongoing R&D efforts, BEI will identify a faculty research partner who can provide the technical expertise needed. BEI can also provide access to research facilities, help with the execution of sponsored research agreements, and help prepare proposals to funding agencies.
Benefits of sponsored research partnerships with BEI:
- Partnering With Faculty. Companies and their faculty partners become teams, engaged, ideally, in long-term relationships with considerable value-added beyond a solution to the original scientific problem.
- Flexibility. Working with the Technology Transfer Office sponsored research agreements may be tailored to suit your organization. Working with the BEI to marry technologocial experts to a companies needs the Technology Transfer Office will craft agreements that satisfy commercial need with academic activity.
- Price. As an institute within WPI, BEI is a non-profit organization with no need to adjust grant or contract costs for profit.
- Commercialization. BEI can leverage its relationships with commercialization service providers to help develop a company’s technology to a commercial stage.
