Apelian Selected as APMI Fellow
AMPI International has announced the 2004 class of the AMPI Fellows. Diran Apelian, Howmet Professor of Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Donald T. Whychell, Sr., director of research & development at CM Furnaces Inc., will be formally awarded their Fellow designations at the 2004 International Conference on Powder Metallurgy and Particulate Materials in Chicago this coming June.
A long-time member of AMPI International and a frequent presenter at AMPI meeting and conferences, Apelian is widely recognized for his innovative work in metal processing, especially in the field of near-net shape manufacturing. Whychell, an acknowledged expert on thermal processing of metals and ceramics has been a member of AMPI for more than 15 years and was a 2001 recipient of the MPIF Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy Award.
