Two L'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines Students Study at WPI as Part of an Exchange Agreement with MPI
In September 2004, two L'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Etienne students arrived in Worcester as part of the MPI/St. Etienne Exchange Program. Both Mr. Pierre-Alexandra Legait and Mr. Arnaud Gateaud will be obtaining their Diplome D’Ingenieur degree from the “L’Ecole des mines” of Saint Etienne in France, as well as a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering in the U.S.
Along with regular course work, Mr. Legait is working on a project between Montupet and Air Liquide (both members of MPI), which will result in a 9-month internship beginning May 2005. The subject of his M.S. thesis is on the distribution of the porosity formed during Al-Si welding. Mr. Gateaud is working on the delubrication of powder metallurgy compacts, in partnership with GKN, also an MPI member.
Both Arnaud and Pierre are doing very well in their course work and have adjusted to life in New England.
