Meet Our Staff
Nick Galotti
Senior Web Applications Administrator, WPI
Nick has been a member of FIRST since the fall of 1996. He began competing in robotics competitions in high school, and spent 5 years with Team 155, The Techno-Nuts from Berlin, CT where he was the team captain in his senior year. During his undergraduate years at WPI, Nick participated on WPI's robotics team, Team 190, where he was the Director of Support. As Director of Support, Nick was responsible for scouting, fundraising, and applying for awards. He also helped design and build parts for the team's robot. Since graduating from WPI in 2005, Nick has remained very active with Savage Soccer and several LEGO League competitions in the area. He started a rookie robotics team at Burncoat High School in Worcester, MA, and currently serves as the advisor of the team and is the team's main technical resource. He is assisted by two other team mentors. The Burncoat team has won several awards at competitions throughout New England. Nick recently received the Volunteer of the Year award at Robonautica 2007.
Annnette Somers
Annette earned a BS from Columbia University’s School of Engineering and an MS from Boston University’s School of Engineering. As a software engineer, she worked on instrument control, medical imaging, systems programming, and compiler development. Annette has been a teacher/naturalist for Mass Audubon Society, a math teacher for the Boston Public Schools, and a science teacher for the Boston Museum of Science. She originally became involved with educational robotics in the 1980’s, and she has taught robotics classes for a variety of summer and after-school programs. In addition, Annette has served as a volunteer mentor and regional mentor for FIRST.
