Arriving on Campus

Summer is a great time of the year to visit the WPI campus.  WPI is located in the heart of Worcester city, the second largest city in the six-state region. This makes it easily accessible by public transportation by airport shuttles, buses, the commuter rail, taxi services and trains.  For more information on public transportation, please visit Getting Around WPI. Other helpful information when arriving on campus includes where to get your Campus ID Card, how to set up your Email Account or Pay your Bill, where to buy your books, locating facilities, where to park and information for Visiting International Students.

 

1. Get Your WPI Campus ID Card

It is essential that you obtain your WPI Campus ID Card as soon as possible. Your WPI Campus ID Card is necessary for accessing most facilities such as Residence Hall, Dining, Mailroom, Library, and most other facilities.  Photo identification must be presented to receive a Campus ID card. Valid identification includes a driver's license, state identification card, or passport.

To obtain your WPI Campus ID Card, please go to the Administrative Service Office located in Founders Hall, Lower Level. The Administrative Office is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. If you have questions regarding the WPI Campus ID card, please contact administrative services at 508-831-5150.

 

2. Set Up Your Log-in and E-mail Account

In order to login to your accounts on Banner (Web Information Systems), UNIX Email, or to use myWPI each require the use of your WPI login.  In order to create a WPI Personal Account, visit our Account Maintenance Page.  

 

3. Pay Your Bill

If you have not paid your bill already, please visit in person the Office of Financial Aid or call at (508)831-5469.  For online information on payment plans, click here.

 

4. Buy Your Books

Textbooks can be purchased at the WPI Bookstore. and can be reached at (508)831-5247.  Store hours: Monday- Friday 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

 

5. Locate Facilities

You'll want to make sure you know where to go - and when - on the first day of class. After you register, you can view your course schedule and room location when you login to myWPI. To find a facility or locate your class, please view our campus map.

 

6. Parking & Traffic

Parking on WPI's Campus property is a privilege extended to members of the WPI community who have registered their vehicles with the WPI Police Department, in accordance with WPI's Parking and Traffic Regulations. Due to the limited number of parking spaces on campus, registered vehicles are not guaranteed a parking space. Parking is on a first come, first served basis.

All WPI faculty, staff, students, conferees, guests and groups who operate any motor vehicles on campus or other land of the University, are required to read, understand and abide by the traffic rules and regulations.     Parking Permit Application: The WPI Parking Permit Application must be filled out and returned to Campus Police in order to obtain a decal      for your vehicle.

7. Visiting International Students

If you are an international student, upon arrival you are required to check in with the International House which you can easily locate on the campus map. Office hours: Monday-Friday 8 p.m.-4 p.m. For any additional questions and please call (508)831-6030.

International students must obtain a J-1 or F-1 student visa in order to come to the United States to study.  For more information on the requirements for visiting International Students please click on our link. Students should bring all relevant immigration documents (i.e. passport, I-94 card, form(s) I-20, form(s) DS-2019, etc) with them.
