WPI offers many professional programs over the summer for teachers and other professionals looking to enhance their careers. Our programs are taught by exceptional faculty and industry professionals to bring you the most current information.  

  

PROJECT LEAD THE WAY

Two-week Summer Training Institute for teachers on the PLTW pre-engineering curriculum used in high schools and middle schools. This summer WPI will be offering STIs for Gateway To Technology Basic, Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles Of Engineering, Digital Electronics, Engineering Design and Development, and Aerospace Engineering.

STI Dates:  July 17-29 (no class July 23-24)


Audience:  Middle school science teachers and high school teachers (whose school districts already have a signed agreement with PLTW)
Cost:  $2,100 tuition includes opening dinner and weekday lunches


Optional Housing and Food Costs:  $1,075 housing includes weekday breakfasts; $135 weekday dinner plan; $70 weekend in between meal plan

Once the PLTW application is complete, you must register with WPI.  Applications will be accepted March 15 through June.

ALUMNI REBOOT

Whether you are looking to refresh your current skill set, revamp your resume with industry-leading practices, or make essential connections with fellow alums and potential employers, Alumni Reboot is a program not to be missed. This weeklong education series will include Project Management, Negotiation Skills, Lean Principles, Six/Sigma, Power systems, Systems Engineering, Opportunities in Bio/Pharma, and Entrepreneurship. Evening events, lunch and learns, housing, and all seminar materials are included.

Program dates: June 19-24, 2011

Audience: WPI Alumni (If space allows, the program may be opened to the general public with and additional charge)

Cost: $899

THE WRITERS INSTITUTE AT WPI

The Writers Institute at WPI invites writers of every level to immerse themselves in a week of writing and discussion in the track of their choice—poetry, fiction, or nonfiction. This residential program includes lectures by working professionals, workshops, discussion, performance, visits to places of interest to writers, and, of course, lots of writing and rewriting. All tracks will work toward the publication of a magazine featuring the best work produced during the program

Program dates: June 26- July 1, 2011

Audience: Entering grade 12 in the fall-adult

Corporate and Professional Education @ WPI

Lifelong learning – it’s always been an integral part of WPI’s mission. Today, lifelong learning has become a reality for everyone. In order to thrive in today’s competitive climate, individuals and corporations actively seek and embrace continuing education. Trends indicate that receiving a certificate in a specific discipline provides professionals with the knowledge, skills and credentials needed to build careers. A WPI certificate is highly recognized throughout the business community.

Choose from over 50 workshops offering a wide array of topics including: Leadership and Management Development, Project Management, Lean Enterprise, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and Process Improvement.  Take as many single workshops as you would like.  By completing five related workshops you can earn a WPI certificate from one of the options listed below.

Workshops are available on an open enrollment basis for individuals as well as corporate delivery for organizations that have a number of people who would like to participate.
