Program Assessment

The creation and implementation of the “WPI Plan” in 1970 demonstrated WPI’s commitment to quality and innovation in technologically-focused undergraduate education.  Though revolutionary in its time, WPI’s focus on experiential project-based learning, flexible scheduling and curricula, global awareness, and technical literacy is now seen as exactly in step with the needs of US and global society today.  The past 30 years have seen substantial change from the original form of the Plan, and recent presidential commissions have set the stage for WPI’s continuing leadership in undergraduate education.  Evaluation and assessment of educational outcomes for our students is essential to sustained effectiveness.
