Great Problems Seminars (GPS)

The GPS have been supported by a gift from the Eric Hahn Family Trust.

This two-course introduction to university-level research and project work focuses on themes of current global importance. Everything you do will be tied to current events, societal problems, and human needs. GPS is all about important problems. The skills you’ll develop are exactly what you’ll need to be successful in your project work at WPI, and in your future career. There are five different seminars:

Martin Burt

Founder and CEO of Fundación Paraguaya, a non-governmental organization devoted to the promotion of entrepreneurship among the world’s poor. Burt is also co-founder of Teach a Man to Fish, a global network that promotes “education that pays for itself” partnering with more than 50 organizations from 27 countries to establish financially self-sufficient agricultural schools for rural poor.

WPI Students

Anna Chase, Matt Connolly, and Tayiesha Jackson will discuss how they brought their Great Problems Seminar project "Personal Hygiene in Malawa, Kenya" to life in Africa.
