Any first year student can become part of the Wellness program by registering for it through bannerweb. The Wellness program is a term long program, students can either participate in Wellness during A or C term.  Students who participate in the Wellness program throughout A or C term will receive 1/12 of a physical education credit for being part of the program. Students are required to take part in fourteen programs that are designated as wellness activities.  Many of the programs are facilitated by the Student Development Counseling Center, Health Services, Campus Activities, and the Career Development Center.  All Wellness programs are related to the mind, body, and soul. Examples of such programs include; Work on Worcester, Nutrition, and Stress Management. Each student will have to sign up for the particular programs they would like to participate in and attendance will also be taken at each event. If a student is not accounted for at the event then that particular event does not count as one of their fourteen. Events that are longer than one hour will only count for one credit.  Aleshia Carlsen, the Graduate Assistant for Academic Advising is the person to contact in regards to any questions concerning the Wellness program. Aleshia can be contacted by email at acarlsen@wpi.edu or by phone at 508-831-5381.

This year the Wellness program will include an opportunity for students to connect with peer mentors that have been through the Wellness program already.  The wellness peer mentors will help students develop wellness goals to work on throughout the wellness program.  There will be a list of all the various activities that each peer mentor is participating in; helping the first year students become connected to students that have similar interests as them.

In order to fulfill your wellness requirements, each student must participate in either the Nutrition or Stress Management series.  The Nutrition series consist of four one hour long seminars while the Stress Management series consist of three one hour long seminars.  You must register for all seminars at the same time and attend all seminars within each series to receive credit for participating.

Please make note of any wellness programs or activities that are mandatory, there will be no excuse for missing a mandatory program. It is also important that you still register for any mandatory program on Regi. The link to register will be e-mailed to you.

It is suggested that you register for all the wellness programs you plan on attending early so you can be sure to participate in the programs that are of interest to you.  If you have any questions please contact Aleshia Carlsen, Graduate Assistant Academic Advisor at acarlsen@wpi.edu or by phone at 508-831-5381.
