Research topics include optimizing the sequence of tRNA-shRNA chimeras for anti-HIV gene therapy, characterization of light absorption and total organic carbon content of Anime-aldehyde secondary organic aerosol, developing chemical force microscopy for analyzing atmospheric aerosol particles, biomimetic cyclizations in organic chemistry, and design, synthesis, and characterization of zinc porphyrin dyes for use on nanostructure zinc oxide photoanodes in dye-sensitized solar cells.

Research topics in the dsign and synthese of membranes and polymers for enhanced ion transport, theoretical modeling of fuel cells and batteries, fabrication of fuel cells and batteries, design and synthese of molecular structures of photovoltaic devices with enhanced exciton lifetimes, charge transport, and mobility, and directed molecular assembly, fabrication, and analysis of photovoltaic devices.
