It is the policy of the WPI School of Business that anyone may request approval to take up to two graduate business courses prior to being formally admitted to the Master of Business Administration program or a Master of Science program. Only candidates who hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent), or who have received a graduate degree from an accredited university will be approved to take courses as a non-matriculated student.
Candidates who meet the minimum requirements described above may request approval to enroll in courses as a non-matriculated student by submitting a personal statement explaining their motivation for taking classes, a copy of their resume or the address to their LinkedIn profile, and official transcript(s) to WPI School of Business, Office of Admissions, 100 Institute Road, Worcester, MA 01609-2280. The personal statement should be 3-4 paragraphs, approximately 1 single-spaced page in length.
Once the personal statement and official transcripts are received, the Office of Admissions will review them and make a determination within 7-10 business days. If approved, the candidate will receive additional instructions regarding course registration and will be connected to a program advisor for course selection guidance, if needed.
Courses taken as a non-matriculated student will be applied toward a WPI School of Business degree program upon formal acceptance to the relevant program.
Note: Candidates interested in taking courses at WPI School of Business as a non-matriculated student are not required to submit the WPI online application. The WPI online application should be submitted only when the prospective student is ready to submit a formal application to a degree program.
