WPI Welcomes First Architectural Engineering Majors
16 students join the new Architectural Engineering program in the fall of 2012
Worcester Polytechnic Institute recently launched a new interdisciplinary program leading to the bachelor of science degree in architectural engineering. It is one of just 17 such programs nationwide, the first program in New England, and only the second in the Northeast. WPI's program has been designed to prepare students to help address the growing challenges of sustainability, energy conservation, and safety in the built environment.
In the fall of 2012, the Architectural Engineering Program welcomed 16 students - 9 first year students and 7 upper class students. The students have been active in the new Architectural Design Studio, immersed in courses and project work on architectural graphics, electrical and lighting system, and building acoustics. The spring semester will bring additional new course offerings to the program, allowing students to fully explore the curriculum and opportunities in the architectural engineering field.
