The work of chemical engineers helps make up the fabric of modern life. Chemical engineering has made possible the concrete in our buildings, the gasoline in our cars, and many of the medications that help keep us healthy.
And the knowledge and problem-solving ability you’ll gain with a bachelor of science (BS) degree in chemical engineering from WPI can help continue to make the world a better place, through discoveries in renewable energy and environmental science, biochemistry, biomedical, and materials—all potential areas of study and concentration.
Projects and research are huge components of a chemical engineering degree at WPI. You’ll complete an Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) and a Major Qualifying Project (MQP) before graduation. These can be conducted here in the US or, in the case of the IQP, at one of our worldwide Project Centers, coordinated through your advisor and the Interdisciplinary and Global Studies Division (IGSD).
All of this learning, both inside the classroom and out, happens against the backdrop of the close-knit, family-like atmosphere of the Chemical Engineering Department. As soon as you walk in the door, you’ll be welcomed and made to feel like a VIP. Our warm, caring, world-class faculty and staff strive to create a connection with you.
