PhD Student Wins Xerox Summer Intern Video Contest
Prof. Robert Lindeman reports that Paulo de Barros, a PhD student in Computer Science, participated in the Xerox XCEL internship program this past summer, in Webster, NY. As part of this program, Xerox holds an annual competition for individual interns to create videos describing their experiences. Paulo won the top prize in the “Technical Internship” category for his submission. For his effort, Paulo won an Apple iPad.
Paulo says this summer at the Xerox Webster Research Center was the “best internship ever!”
Paulo’s task at the internship was to design, develop, and evaluate techniques for manipulating objects in a 3D virtual space using large multi-touch surfaces. His work culminated in a paper submission to the prestigious ACM CHI conference and a pending patent application.
