A broad vision
Data Scientists need interdisciplinary skills in analytics, computing, statistics, and business intelligence. The M.S. in Data Science at WPI draws from the strengths of a variety of disciplines on campus such as computer science, mathematical sciences, and business management.
Our faculty, with strong industrial partners, provide students with the resources and opportunities to engage in practical purpose-driven projects, formal course work, teaming engagements with cohorts, and mentored interdisciplinary research work. Students may wish to focus on an area of concentration ranging from general data analytics and computing, mathematical analytics, business analytics, to specialized concentrations in financial analytics, healthcare analytics, biomedical analytics, analytics for sustainability, and learning sciences.
Transformative solutions to real-world problems
Students in the M.S. program emerge as future leaders in data analytics, with the technical and professional skills needed for the career demands of data scientists of the future:
- Collect, organize, and analyze big data using state-of-the-art data analytic technologies
- Data mining and machine learning
- Statistical data analysis
- Information extraction and data management
- Visualization and presentation
