About the Department
WPI’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is known for its innovative approach to education. Our hands-on, project-based method of teaching is particularly suited to produce tomorrow's leaders of the dynamic, complex, and competitive field of electrical and computer engineering.
As a student in the ECE department you’ll work alongside world-renowned professors and researchers in state-of-the-art facilities on meaningful, life-changing projects that tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems. This method of applied learning gives WPI students a wealth of experience and a distinct advantage when applying to graduate schools or seeking employment. Not surprisingly, top-tier employers seek out our students because they know they’ll hit the ground running.
While our passion for research and learning knows no limits, we are equally as fervent about having fun and creating a family atmosphere among our students, faculty, and staff. We are genuinely concerned about each other’s success in the classroom and in life. Many of us spend time together outside of school participating in activities like hiking, dancing, and volunteering our time to various charitable organizations.
