David Cyganski is Weston Hadden Professor

David Cyganski has been chosen as WPI's Weston Hadden Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The three-year appointment includes a fund to support professional development. In awarding him the professorship, WPI Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs John F. Carney III said, "The appointment recognizes your outstanding accomplishments in both teaching and scholarship, and will enable you to develop further your contributions to WPI and your profession."

Cyganski has received three professional degrees in electrical engineering from WPI:

  • a B.S. degree with high distinction (1975),
  • a M.S. degree (1977) and a
  • Ph.D.(1981).

He joined the faculty in 1981 and until 1989 served in that and a number of other capacities, including as chief information officer, vice president of information systems and vice provost.

In 1989 he returned to his current position as professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He received the 1996 Trustees' Award for Outstanding Research, the 1990 Ichabod Washburn Alumni Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement, the 1984 Trustee's Award for Outstanding Teaching and the 1982 Joseph Samuel Satin Distinguished Fellow award.
