2011-2012

2011-2012 ECE Course Information

There have been a number of changes in the ECE course offerings for 2011-12. Professor Hakim has detailed some of the changes that may impact ECE students.

New ECE Course Descriptions:

ECE 2019 - Sensors, Circuits & Systems

ECE 2029 - Introduction to Digital Circuit Design

ECE 2049 - Embedded Computing in Engineering Design

The following will help you understand these changes and make the right decision for your course plans:

•ECE 2022 has been dropped from the ECE curriculum.
•Those who have taken ECE2022 this year should take ECE3801 next year as that will be the last year we offer this course.
•ECE2022 and ECE3801 have been merged into a new course, ECE2029. Please see the attachment for its description. If you have not taken ECE2022 this year, ECE2029 will be your entry course for the area of Computer Engineering. You cannot get credit for both ECE2022 and ECE2029 as they have significant overlap.
•ECE2801 has been replaced by ECE2049. You cannot get credit for both ECE2801 and ECE2049 as they have significant overlap.
•ECE2111 has been replaced by ECE2019. Please see the attachment for its description. You cannot get credit for both ECE2111 and ECE2019 as they have significant overlap.
•Please review the 2011-2012 ECE Course Chart at the following link for the new ECE course flow.
•This year, ECE faculty will be teaching Control Engineering course (ES3011) in Term A11. This is an important course and I would like to encourage all ECE students to take this course. This course will count as an ECE course toward your degree requirements.
•ECE2305 which was scheduled to be offered every other year will be offered again next year as the student demand for this course has been very significant.
•There are discussions under way for two new ECE courses for next year. We will inform you about these new courses once they have been finalized.

If you have any further questions, please contact Professor Hakim.
