Motorized Wheelchair Controlled by Sensors

The Auto-Wheelchair Could Benefit Lives

Ran Li, an undergraduate Electrical and Computer Engineering student was recently featured in the Boston Globe for his Major Qualifying Project (MQP) called Auto-Wheelchair, along with Professor Taskin Padir.

The wheelchair was created to assist people with severe disabilities. The sensors on the wheelchair can detect a person’s facial expressions or verbal commands and turn the wheelchair in the direction the person would like to go. Watch the video with Ran Li in the wheelchair and Professor Taskin Padir discussing this research.
