Two Environmental Engineering Students Honored in President’s IQP Award Competition

Final IQP award presentations on Friday, January 25, 2013...

WPI believes that in order to become the best engineers and scientists they can be, students should have a broad understanding of the cultural and social contexts of those fields, and thus be more effective and socially responsible practitioners and citizens. That’s the intent of the Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP), a nine-credit-hour interdisciplinary requirement involving applied research that connects science or technology with social issues and human needs.

Each year, the President's IQP Awards recognize the student team(s) whose conception, performance and presentation of their Interactive Qualifying Project has been judged outstanding in focusing on the relationships among science, technology and the needs of society. This year, two Environmental Engineering students have been honored in the preliminary award competition. Adam Cadwallader is a member of a finalist team and Patrick Sheppard is a member of a team given an honorable mention.

Final IQP award presentations will take place on Friday, January 25, 2013, in the Campus Center Odeum beginning at 1:15 p.m. with a reception to follow in Higgins House at 5:00 p.m., where the winners will be announced.
