Post-Doctoral Fellowship Opportunity – Fire Risk, Engineering and Performance Analysis
Applications are being sought for a qualified and motivated post-doctoral fellow to conduct research in the areas of fire risk, fire engineering and fire performance analysis under the mentorship of Professor Brian Meacham in the WPI Department of Fire Protection Engineering. The primary responsibility will be to conduct research in support of the project, Quantification of Green Building Features on Firefighter Safety. Areas of focus include development of a fire hazard / risk assessment tool and associated database for use in assessing fire safety performance of green building features and elements, development and conduct of experiments on fire performance of exterior ‘green’ wall configurations, data analysis and reporting of outcomes. Additional responsibilities will include research support on other projects in the areas of fire risk, fire engineering and fire performance analysis and may include lecturing and teaching assistance in areas of risk-informed performance-based design for fire. A two-year appointment is anticipated. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or D.Eng., having completed their dissertation and/or have other significant research in fire risk analysis, fire safety engineering, fire performance analysis or a closely related topic.
