Art & Art History
Study the History of Humanity through Art and Architecture
Exploring the history of art and architecture provides an unparalleled insight into our past and a greater understanding of people, cultures, and customs around the globe.
The Art & Art History concentration at WPI allows students to study works of art and architecture within the context of social, political, and cultural environments. This allows students to gain a deeper appreciation of the work of art, the artist, and the point in history during which the art was produced.
One venue for study is the world-renowned Worcester Art Museum, located blocks from WPI, which features a 35,000-piece collection of paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photography, prints, drawings, and new media.
Through a historical perspective, students will study numerous styles of art including painting, modern art, computer animation, modeling, modern architecture, and more.
