About International Studies
Leadership Training for World Citizens
WPI recognizes that a true international perspective is no longer an option, but a requirement of living and working in the world today. The International Studies program prepares its students to meet that requirement by integrating theory and practice, course work and projects, with a global presence.
Our students develop the ability to work effectively in teams and apply their classroom learning to real problems found around the globe. The International Studies program uniquely prepares students for future leadership roles in business and industry, government and public affairs, and other careers in which a global perspective is paramount.
Relevant Preparation for Study Abroad
The International Studies program provides an academic framework for the off-campus experience. The courses on campus are designed to prepare students to go abroad with a clearer cultural awareness and the skills to make a difference. The program also provides context for the experience abroad upon returning to the U.S.
Interdisciplinary and Individualized Approach
An interdisciplinary program at its core, International Studies combines rigorous preparation in the humanities and social sciences with competence in a field of science or technology and the global perspective of WPI's curriculum. The program brings together faculty from the humanities, social sciences, and other areas of WPI to support students' cross-disciplinary endeavors.
Students may choose from a range of courses and international options to fulfill a minor, major, or double major.
