Adding Library Materials
Suggest an Addition to the Library's Collection
We rely on WPI’s faculty to help us build and maintain a library collection that supports teaching, learning, and research institution-wide. We welcome your requests and suggestions for books, ebooks, DVDs, journals and databases for purchase or subscription. While we try to accommodate as many requests as we can, we are not always able to do so. Please see our Collection Development Policy for further information.
You can make your request through a variety of channels. The more information you can provide about the resource, the better. If you are requesting an item to which access is needed by a deadline, say for a course in the following term, please give us as much lead time as possible. Many academic departments designate a faculty member to act as the liaison between that department and the library. That person consults with other faculty in the department on materials to be added to the collection, keeping in mind course and project work, student and faculty research, and new directions for research and teaching, and then submits the departmental requests as a whole.
You can use our Suggest a Purchase form to ask that a specific book, ebook, journal, DVD, or database be added to the collection. We’ll ask you for some basic information about the item, as well as reasons why the item should be purchased or subscribed to.
If you are already working with a Research and Instruction librarian, that person will be happy to take your requests and forward them on to the Collections & Systems department. You can also contact the Collections Assessment and Development Librarian, Karen Bohrer, directly at email@example.com or by phone at 508-831-6671.
