The Mathematical Sciences department provides leading-edge undergraduate and graduate programs designed to give students the necessary tools to help solve 21st-century problems. These programs are enhanced and distinguished with real-world, project-oriented education, collaborating with current industry, national research centers, and the international academic community.
With a head start—and learning in an environment that is both theoretical and practical—graduates are prepared to enter the workforce with the confidence that is backed by a thorough understanding of their subject and the experience of working side-by-side with experts in their field.
As math is everywhere in society, so are WPI’s Mathematical Sciences graduates. Not surprisingly, alumni work across a diversity of industries, including architecture, insurance and finance, healthcare, computer science, physiological and biological sciences, and a broad spectrum of engineering fields.
