Mathematics Professor Homer Walker will join the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM) as a Deputy Director for the next two years. ICERM is one of eight mathematical-sciences institutes funded by the National Science Foundation and is located at Brown University.

As a Deputy Director, Walker will be a vital member of the institute’s management team. He will be responsible for overseeing one of the two annual semester programs at ICERM, including the development and coordination of the program proposals. These semester-long, thematic programs are a large part of ICERM’s activities and involve hosting a number of long-term visitors (5-10 senior personnel, 4-5 postdoctoral fellows, and 8 graduate students) in addition to workshop participants. Walker will also facilitate the development and organization of topical workshops and summer programs for undergraduates as well as those for early career researchers. In addition, he will help secure grant funding to support existing programs and develop new initiatives.
