Ricardo Obasare Awarded a 2011 Actuarial Diversity Scholarship

Congratulations to Ricardo Obasare '12, for winning a 2011 Actuarial Diversity Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually by the Actuarial Foundation, which has this to say on their website:

"These scholarships not only offset the cost of education for students, but are prestigious honors. Scholarship recipients are selected by representatives of the actuarial profession, who may one day be their peers."

George Shakan Honored at 2011 SACNAS Conference

George Shakan, class of 2012, was honored at the 2011 SACNAS National Conference held in San Jose, CA on October 27-30, 2011. Nearly 80 students presented Mathematics posters at the conference, and George was one of only 10 to receive an award. He also competed in the "Who Wants to be a Mathematician?" game, as one of 6 contestants out of approximately 100 students who took the competition's qualifying exam.
