Professor Jamal Yagoobi, George I. Alden Professor and head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at WPI, in recognition for his outstanding record of accomplishments and his contributions to electrohydrodynamics, has been elevated to IEEE Fellow, effective January 1, 2014. Electrohydrodynamics is the study of the dynamics of electrically charged fluids. Professor Yagoobi studies heat transfer and mass transport over a wide range of scale and applications and in the presence and absence of gravity and has been the recipient of numerous previous awards for his contributions inside and outside the context of electrohydrodynamics. The IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a select group of recipients for elevation to IEEE Fellow, one of the Association’s most prestigious honors; less than 0.1% of voting members are selected annually for this elevation.
