Undergraduate Programs
Knowledge and Meaningful Skills that Make a Difference
By combining a comprehensive education in the engineering sciences with a solid foundation in practical, problem-solving know-how, WPI’s Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program prepares students to take on challenges that may carry technological and societal consequences.
That means mechanical engineering students may design and build a more fuel efficient airplane, design a lighter wheelchair, test flow in constricted blood vessels, or determine the optimal design of mechanical elements.
Learning by Doing
As part of WPI’s commitment to hands-on learning, projects and research are critical components of a mechanical engineering education. Projects include the Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) and Major Qualifying Project (MQP) before graduation. These can be completed here or abroad at one of our worldwide Project Centers.
