Reasons for choosing Army ROTC Baystate Battalion:
I always wanted to serve my country but didn't know which branch to go. I knew I wanted to get a college education first and after enrolling at WPI, I became interested in participating in the Army ROTC Baystate Battalion.
Present job title and employer:
I am currently working as a laborer for A.H. Hutchinson Landscaping. I work 40+ hours a week. It is simply a good paying summer job. My work has nothing to do with my major.
Describe how Army ROTC prepared you for facing real-world challenges in the workplace or graduate school.
Army ROTC has taught me multiple lessons that I apply on a daily basis. First, I apply the time management and responsibility that ROTC has taught me to always be prepared. Whether its work, class or simply meeting friends or family, I show up early to ensure I make the right time. In addition, I apply the leadership lessons of ROTC. I manage the facilities for my fraternity, a position that requires not only leading the 40+ members of my house but also requires coordinating with other leaders in the fraternity as well as school faculty and administrators. This position has given me an opportunity to apply the different leadership techniques I have been taught from ROTC and allows me to make mistakes and learn from them, fine tuning my experience as a leader.
