Throughout this can’t-miss conversation and interactive workshop, Nina Simon will share her vision for the future of cultural institutions as personal, dynamic, and collaborative places for visitor engagement. The afternoon program will offer museum professional san opportunity to participate in a hands-on workshop. Ms. Simon is an exhibit designer who has been described as a “museum visionary” by Smithsonian Magazine. She is currently the Executive Director of The Museum of Art & History in Santa Cruz, CA. Previously; she was the principal and founder of Museum 2.0, a design firm that worked with cultural institutions worldwide on innovative projects that invite visitors to engage as collaborators and active participants. Ms. Simon is the author of The Participatory Museum and the popular Museum 2.0 blog. She is on the board of the Center for the Future of Museums and she has served on advisory committees for IMLS and AAAS projects about 21stCentury Skills and the future of museums and libraries. Ms. Simon is also an adjunct professor at the University of Washington Museology program, teaching a course on Social Technologies in Exhibition Design. She is a WPI alumna.
