2012 Water Rocket Competition

Congratulations to Wachusett High School's Team, "The Water Rocket Club" for winning the 2012 Goddard Cup - Water Rocket Competition on June 13, 2012!

The Department of Physics held its 5th annual Goddard Cup – Water Rocket Competition on June 13th, 2012 at WPI. Launched in 2008 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Robert H. Goddard’s graduation from WPI (class of 1908), the Goddard Cup brings together k-12 student teams from around Central Massachusetts and beyond to compete in an activity that challenges their imagination and creativity. This year, five schools were represented fielding multiple teams and bringing together a record number of students, over 50! One school, Sullivan Middle School, used this Water Rocket Competition as their final science class project. This year, First Place was awarded to team Water Rocket Club from Wachusett High-School, Second place to team Triton 4 from Seven Hills Charter School, and Third place to team M&M's from Sullivan Middle School with all participating teams being invited back for the Touch Tomorrow WPI/NASA event on Saturday, June 16th, 2012 to demonstrate their innovations and skills.
