Physics Students Give Talk and Present Demo at ICRA 2012 WORKSHOP (May 14, 2012)
Students working with Prof. Popovic were awarded travel support to give invited talk at ICRA 2012 Workshop. Their presentation got a lot of attention and the original research concepts were very well received by a large audience at this number-one conference in the world.
Students Chris Berthelette and Thane Hunt working with Prof. Marko Popovic gave a talk and presented a demo of their technology called, “Soft Robotics Variable Stiffness Exo-Musculature, One-To-Many Concept, and Advanced Clutches” at the ICRA 2012 WORKSHOP: ‘Variable Stiffness Actuators moving the Robots of Tomorrow’ alongside top world leaders in the field who gathered for this event in St. Paul, Minnesota on May 14, 2012.
ICRA stands for ‘International Conference on Robotics and Automation’; it is the largest event of its kind in the world.
Their presentation got a lot of attention and the original research concepts were very well received by a large audience at the number-one robotics conference in the world.
Congratulations to Chris, Thane and prof. Popovic for promoting a good name for WPI! This was a joint work with Prof. Germano S. Iannacchione, Prof. Stephan Koehler, Adam l. Blumenau and Alec A. Ishak.
Their travel was half supported by the Physics Dept. and by the Mechanical Engineering Dept.
