Deborah J. Graves
- Executive Assistant to the Provost
Deb joined the Office of the Provost in 1996 after working for many years in the corporate world. In her role as Executive Assistant to the Provost, Deb primarily supports the Provost and Senior Vice President in his role as the senior academic officer of WPI. Her work focuses on the tenure-track faculty recruiting and employment processes for WPI. She also provides institutional faculty statistics to internal and external constituents.
Michael B. Manning
- Vice Provost for Research
The Vice Provost for Research is responsible for the overall operations and non-financial services that support the research enterprise at WPI, including the Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of Technology Transfer, and the Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center. The APR provides the vision and leadership to enhance faculty research efforts and increase WPI's externally sponsored funding.
- Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Academic Affairs manages multiple ongoing and periodic administrative initiatives in support of the functions of the Office of the Provost. The AVP supports the Provost in the preparation, development and implementation of administrative policies and processes of the division, the evaluation of academic programs and their outcomes, and the management of fiscal and human resources within the division of Academic Affairs.
Todd S. Keiller
- Director, Technology Transfer
As the steward of WPI's intellectual property, the Office of Technology Transfer can evaluate, protect, market, and license the innovation coming from WPI's research.
Laurie A. Smith
- Director of Academic Operations
Having joined WPI in 1990, Laurie serves as the Director of Academic Operations. Laurie is responsible for Academic Affairs' financial, personnel and operations management. She supports the development and implementation of academic policies, budgets and allocation of resources. Laurie directs faculty payroll, annual reports, recruiting practices, non-tenure track offers of appointment, tenure track relocation and start-up commitments.

Carla provides information technology support and solutions to the divisions of Academic Affairs by assisting in the design, development, testing and integration of IT tools, applications and products.
- Technology Transfer Research Specialist
Lynda provides support to the offices of Technology Transfer and the Associate Provost for Research.
Sara L. Ringer
- Operations Manager, Undergraduate Studies
As Operations Manager for the Office of Undergraduate Studies, Sara is responsible for event planning, the student course evaluation process, as well as provides administrative support to the Dean, the Associate Dean and the Director of the Morgan Center for Teaching and Learning.
Susan M. Oppong
- Administrative Assistant VI
Susan joined the Provost office in October 2008. She provides academic support to the Director of Academic Operations. In her role she aids in a variety of duties, such as budget development, TA/RA tracking, faculty appointment letters and payroll paperwork, survey submissions, and special projects as needed.
Theona K. Scola
- Administrative Assistant VI
Theona's main role is the provide adminstative support for the Vice Provost for Research (VPR) which includes assisting academic departments in the non-faculty research appointment process. She acts as the liaison within the VPR organization and with external contacts. She also handles various administrative duties, including supporting budget development and the financial model development process, for the Assistant Vice President.
