WPI’s Commitment to Unparalleled Robotics Education Speaks for Itself

Leading the way and covering all the bases are descriptions that only begin to tell the story of this unique department. WPI is renowned for being first in the nation to offer a BS program in Robotics Engineering, first to offer BS, MS, and PhD programs at the same time, and first (and only) with a five-year combined BS/MS.

But while this foresight was at the heart of our commitment to educating the most qualified and confident robotics engineers, there is more to creating and sustaining a successful program than just being first. At WPI, we look beyond the college years; our approach to robotics education includes a strong K-12 connection (summer camps, competitions, FIRST) that fosters continued credibility and inspires excellence at the university level.

The result of this dedication is graduates—armed with a practical, well-rounded education—ready to take on real-world challenges and make a difference.

Robotics Research at WPI

Ongoing robotics research keeps Worcester Polytechnic at the forefront of robotics engineering advances and breakthroughs. Research focus areas include human-robot interaction, artificial intelligence, medical robotics, and kinematics and control systems.
