Joining PLTW

Action Where do I do this? Timeframe/Deadline Contingent Upon
District Registration: Your district registers with PLTW, essentially stating that the district has chosen to implement the PLTW curriculum in one or more schools. Registration is NOT a binding agreement; it is an application to use the PLTW curriculum. PLTW Getting Started Sept. - April for following fall implementation  
School Registration: Once a district has provided the necessary information to register, schools in the district may register with PLTW. Again this is NOT a binding agreement. PLTW Getting Started Sept. - April for following fall implementation District Registration
PLTW Acceptance: Once the district and school(s) have registered and PLTW accepts the application for implementation, a formal agreement will be sent to the district.   Within several months District & School Registration
Teacher Registration: Teachers who will be teaching PLTW courses are selected and register with PLTW. Teachers for PLTW must complete summer training prior to teaching any PLTW course! Becoming a PLTW Teacher Before submission of Agreement, by June 1st for Summer Training District & School Registration
Formal Agreement Submission: The formal agreement is signed and returned to PLTW.   By June 1st for summer teacher training and fall implementation District & School Registration, Acceptance by PLTW, Teacher Registration
Registration for Summer Training Institute (STI) Becoming a Teacher & Registering for STIs Registration opens March 15th Agreement with PLTW, Teacher Registration with PLTW
Schools begin offering PLTW course(s)   Fall Agreement with PLTW, Completion of teacher summer training
Guidance Counselor Conference: A representative from the Guidance Department should attend the annual New England Guidance Counselor Conference (stipulated in PLTW Agreements). Counselor Conference Postings New England: Offered annually  

Important Things to Note

There is no cost to join PLTW. Once your district has an agreement with PLTW, the written curriculum is provided to you for free!

Check out Media & Brochures for assistance calculating the cost of implementing PLTW at your school.  Expenses include laboratory equipment and supplies, software licenses, and teacher training.
