New Student Orientation (NSO) is the period of time just before your A-Term classes begin at WPI. It's your chance to move in, get acquainted with the campus, meet your classmates, and settle in.
The Student Activities Office along with current WPI students are already planning for your arrival as a member of the Class of 2017. The orientation program brings together all first-year students with upperclassmen, faculty, staff, and alumni. For more information, visit the New Student Orientation website (note, information is from last year as a reference).
To help alleviate some of the stress associated with the transition from high school to college, WPI has developed Insight, a first-year advising and mentoring program, that provides first-year students with a strong support network of faculty, staff, and students.
All first-year students are grouped together by floors in the residence hall or by their designations as commuter or transfer students. Each group is assigned to an Insight team which consists of a Faculty Advisor, and student leaders called Community Advisors and Resident Advisors. The members of the Insight team are there every step of the way to guide you students as you adapt to college life.
