Health & Safety
WPI offers an array of services to ensure the health and safety of our students.
The WPI Student Health Center is open throughout the year and provides, among basic health services, routine allergy injections at no charge and gynecological services by appointment. WPI requires students to complete a health form and provide certification of immunization. In addition, proof of adequate health insurance is required by law in Massachusetts.
Student Development and Counseling Center
The SDCC, known as West Street House, can assist students and their parents with any difficulties associated with the process of adjusting to college. Students may make an appointment to speak with counselors, and parents who have concerns about their son or daughter are encouraged to call the SDCC.
WPI police officers are academy-trained and hold CPR and First Responder certification. They are commissioned through the Massachusetts State Police. The WPI Police Department is also responsible for on-campus parking permits.
Personal Safety Escort Service
The purpose of this service is to provide safe and courteous transportation to our students, faculty and staff during the hours of darkness. Hours are 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., Sunday through Thursday and 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., Friday and Saturday. There are also 23 emergency phones located throughout the campus; the WPI Police Department can be contacted simply by pressing the yellow emergency button on the phone.
