We know you look at colleges a little differently than your son or daughter does. You have your own criteria and your own concerns. Will your child be just another number on campus? Does WPI offer a good education, will it lead to a good job, and how much will it all cost? Here are some answers just for you.
We're a top university.
WPI is consistently ranked in the top 60 of over 300 national colleges and universities in the U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges issue. WPI is selective, with an average admitted SAT score of 1310; 72 percent of those admitted graduated in the top 20 percent of their high school class.
We're a university like no other.
All universities claim they're different – we really are! Our project-enriched curriculum teaches students to put classroom knowledge to work by solving real-world problems before they graduate. During their four years at WPI, students complete two projects in addition to their course work. Projects are completed in teams with faculty advisors on campus or at one of more than 20 global projects centers, including one at the Johnson Space Center in Texas, one in Bangkok and one in Limerick, Ireland. Our students receive lots of attention.
More important (to us), we were ranked No. 1 by the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) in the student-faculty interaction category, which measures the quantity and quality of time professors spend with their students. Students spend more one-to-one hours with faculty here than they do at any comparable school in the country.
Our graduates get good jobs -- and succeed in life.
WPI students learn the skills they need to succeed in any career they choose – team work, problem solving, communication and time management. Our graduates go on to become more than just engineers and scientists. We have graduates who are doctors, stockbrokers, musicians, artists, teachers and more... There is an average 90 percent placement rate for students who register with the Career Development Center. Many top companies recruit at WPI, including General Electric, National Grid and the Gillette Company. More on Alumni outcomes...
We'll help make it affordable.
If your son or daughter is accepted to WPI, we will do everything in our power to help your family afford WPI. Consider us partners in your investment.
