Join Us for the Alden Dedication
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) will officially open the George I. Alden Life Sciences & Bioengineering Educational Center at 8 a.m. on Aug. 27. The $11.5 million center was developed thanks to a transformational gift from of the George I. Alden Trust, WPI's most generous donor. The funding for this center constitutes the largest sum ever given by the Trust to any single entity.

The morning's program includes a breakfast and speakers held on the grounds behind the Campus Center. The ribbon cutting, lab tours and demonstrations of WPI's cutting-edge "Connected Lab" technology will take place in the Alden Center starting at 9 a.m.
As the demand for a WPI education has grown over the years, so has the interest in the Life Sciences among students. This new facility will allow WPI to provide an outstanding education that will prepare students for careers in the healthcare sector, one of the nation's biggest and most important areas of growth. Housed in Goddard Hall, the new facility will bring together WPI's undergraduate laboratory instruction of biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, and chemical engineering, and is designed to facilitate collaboration among the disciplines. It will also complement the graduate programs offered at WPI's Life Sciences at Bioengineering Center in Gateway Park.
