WORCESTER, Mass. Teri Lee Burrows Brehio of Worcester, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Andrew David of Whippany, N.J., a junior ME major, have been named recipients of Heald Brothers scholarships.
The Heald Brothers Scholarship Endowment, created through the generosity of the Heald Foundation, provides full-tuition grants to a junior and a senior mechanical engineering major without regard to financial need. The endowment honors the memory of the four sons of James N. Heald, all of whom were WPI alumni. Roger and Richard Heald were members of WPI's Class of 1920, Robert Heald graduated in 1929 and Stanley Heald was in the Class of 1932.
Brehio, daughter of William and Sandy Burrows of Hillsboro, N.H., is enrolled in WPI's BS/MS program and will receive her master's degree in biomedical engineering in May 1997. She hopes to attend medical school after graduation. Brehio is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Tau Beta Pi and the Society of Women Engineers. She received the Class of 1996's Outstanding Woman Award in her freshman, sophomore and junior year. She was a MASH leader for chemistry and a resident hall advisor, chairs the Speaker's Committee of the Pre-Health Society, and is a cheerleader and a member of the Dance Club.
David, son of Sherrie Miller of Whippany, N.J., and Gerald David of Morris Plains, N.J., is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Mu Epsilon, the manufacturing honor society, and plays saxophone in the WPI Stage Band and Jazz Ensemble.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute is an independent, technological university founded in 1865.
