WPI Fire Protection Engineering Society Announces New Officers

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The WPI student chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers recently announced the following slate of officers for the 1998-99 academic year:

President: James (Jay) Ierardi of Avon, Mass., who earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from WPI in 1997 and is completing his master's in fire protection engineering.

Vice President: Romeo Gervais III of Wyoming, RI. Gervais received his B.S. in civil engineering from WPI in May and is studying for an M.S. in FPE. He is a volunteer firefighter in Auburn, Mass.

Secretary: Mark Wright of Harrisburg, PA, an FPE master's candidate who received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from WPI in 1997.

Treasurer: Scott Anderson of Dudley, Mass., who received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from WPI in 1995, a master's in fire protection engineering in 1998, and is currently enrolled in an FPE doctoral program.

WPI is an independent technological university founded in 1865. The University offers graduate degree programs in fire protection engineering at both the master's and doctoral levels, as well as a five-year, dual-degree program for high school graduates.

WPI was ranked among the top 50 national universities in the 1997 edition of U.S. News and World Report's Best Colleges Guide and was ranked 35th among the top national institutions in the magazine's Best College Values report.
