Worcester, Mass. -- About 750 WPI alumni will return to campus this weekend when the technological university hosts their annual Reunion Weekend. The first alumni will begin arriving on Thursday, June 5, when a buffet dinner and welcome alumni reception will be held at Founder's Hall on Boynton St.
Most of the alumni are expected to arrive on Friday when special events will be held throughout the day on campus and in the surrounding communities. Among these activities are a golf tournament, campus tours, shopping at the Worcester Common Outlets Mall and a trip to the Tower Hill Botanical Gardens and the Worcester Art Museum.
That evening at 5:30 there will be a Class of 1947 reception hosted by WPI President Edward Parrish at Jeppson House on 1 Drury Lane. Later there will be a new England Clambake with music at Higgins House for the returning alumni.
Saturday activities include a WPI Trivial Pursuit breakfast, President Parrish's annual address to alumni, a reunion parade and awards luncheon.
Editors, please note: A schedule of activities is attached to this advisory. Media are invited to cover any activities. Of special note are the returning alumni of the 50th class. Many of them are WWII veterans who attended WPI through the GI Bill. Lesley E. Small, the first woman to enroll and graduate from WPI, Class of 1972, will also be returning for this Reunion Weekend.
