WORCESTER, Mass. -- Anthony Wayne Hopson of Worcester, formerly of Hartford, Conn., was recently appointed assistant director of Minority Student Affairs and Outreach Programs. Hopson holds a bachelor's degree in liberal studies and a master's in higher education administration from the University of Connecticut, Storrs. Before coming to WPI he was supervisor of administrative services at UConn in West Hartford. During the 1997-98 academic year he was also a participant in the Minority Fellowship Program sponsored by the state's community college system. For his fellowship, which he completed at Capital Community Technical College in Hartford, Hopson engaged in community outreach efforts to inform targeted students and their families about the requirements for college matriculation and graduation, advised them about appropriate college-based services, and helped to develop educational plans for these students.
An independent technological university founded in 1865, WPI is renowned for its project-based educational program.
