WPI Names New VP for Information Technology

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Thomas J. Lynch of Sherborn, Mass., has been
appointed vice president for information technology at WPI. Lynch
received a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of
Cincinnati and an M.S., E.E. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from
MIT. He comes to WPI from Domain Solutions Corp., formerly Bolt,
Beranek and Newman (BBN) Software Products, and BBN Systems and
Technologies Corp., where he spent 10 years in senior technical and
management positions, most recently as corporate vice president for
customer services. He was previously employed at MIT Lincoln
Laboratory and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
In this newly created WPI post, Lynch will work with appropriate members of the administration, faculty and advisory groups to provide vision, leadership, strategic planning and coordination of all aspects of information technology, including computing, media and library services, networking and telecommunications. He is also responsible for budget and management of the daily operations for these technology departments, including technical support and training, overall information systems development, and hardware/software acquisition.
